The winery was founded in 1999 out of love and commitment to the craft, with a clear vision rooted in strong traditions, at a time when few believed the company would become a pioneer in the region and help lay the foundations for modern viticulture in northern Transylvania.
The company developed continuously and acquired more and more land, expanding from the original 2.5 hectares to 20 hectares. Development is far from complete, as vineyards planted long ago and now abandoned still await revival. Unfortunately, about 25% of the major planting carried out in 2006 was lost to late spring frosts and had to be replanted.
Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blaufränkisch, Fetească Neagră and Syrah, together with the white varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Rhine Riesling, Traminer, Fetească Regală and Muscat Ottonel, form the region’s diverse grape portfolio.
It is worth noting that the selection of grape varieties proved highly successful, even though there was little local experience with them at the time. Many of the varieties cultivated in the past would no longer be suitable today, with the exception of the white GRÜNSPITZ grape, whose reintroduction into cultivation is an important objective for the company in the future.
The winery respects and preserves the legacy of previous generations. This is why, in 2002, it was important to acquire the Károlyi cellar, which was already in ruins at the time, and restore its historic appearance.
The present cannot be imagined without the past, nor can it move forward without a clearly defined vision of the future. The entire team works continuously to develop and expand that vision.
